Weber Jumbo Joe Review

Picked me up a new Weber Jumbo Joe portable charcoal kettle. Weber used to make these but then discontinued them, but now have redesigned them and brought them back. This is the new 2013 model that I review in this video.

Check them out on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098HR0RC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0098HR0RC&linkCode=as2&tag=volleybalus-20

i own a smokey joe with the vents on the side and air flow was terrible! i wound up drilling holes in the bottom in order to make my coals burn more evenly and hotter! i’m definately glad to see this one with the adjustable vent on the bottom…

Great video. I am trying to decide between the Smokey Joe and Jumbo Joe. After watching this I think I’ll go with the Jumbo Joe.

I have the Smokey Joe and like others as soon as I put the lid on the flame goes out, so I rarely use other than something to put my chimney on. the Jumbo looks a lot better thanks for the review.

Do you have a discussion anywhere about that nice grilling table you have on your ‘Egg” ? Would love to buy or build one.

Just ordered this from Home Depot. For some reason they do not stock these at any Home Depot near me, but they are available online for ordering.

This grill will complement my Lodge Logic Sportsman’s Grill which is best small grill on the market right now since it is totally cast iron. I just needed something a little bigger for cooking for more than two people and cooking more things at the same time. I use hardwood lump charcoal and not chemical laden briquettes by Kingsford.

Nice vid! But, am I the only one who thinks this guy sounds just like Nick Swardson? Lmao

I just ordered mine on wal-mart.com cannot wait to use it.

Just got it! I love our Weber Performer and want a portable option for slow and low ribs for camping (though with the smaller work surface it might be interesting). Do you have a surface thermometer you’d recommend? Thanks for the great review!

Recieved my Jumbo Joe yesterday and put it together tonight. Took about 20 minutes and is pretty straight forward. For whatever reason, Weber gave me a lot of extra bolts, washers, wingnuts and whatever, I mean a whole lot of extras. I even received in the box an extra handle holder. Whomever was on the assembly line that day was in the give away mode! I may be being over greedy, but I think Weber should of included their hinged grate as standard with this grill. Hope to cook on it soon.

I was able to purchase a Jumbo Joe on clearance at Target for $30. Your reviews solidified my purchase – and I will be purchasing a cast iron grate soon as well. Keep on reviewing!

I will have six people in for a BBQ party this coming Saturday. Will the Jumbo Joe be able pump out enough grilled meat and veggie for six?

NICEEEEEEEEEEE

Awesome! Glad you hear you got one! You’ll be amped on cooking on it 🙂 Yeah man, any of the therm’s from either Maverick Housewares or Thermoworks are really good. Check em out.

I don’t see how this got 7 dislikes. Honestly it’s a good review. Unless someone was disappointed that he didn’t cook on it. But he didn’t say he would. Idk. But I think it’s a really good review being he had the smokey to do a side by side comparison. That’s why I watch the video. I wanted to see if getting the jumbo was that much of a difference. I see now it is. Almost Impossible to cook for 3 on a smokey. Plenty of room on the jumbo. Thanks.

StokedOnSmoke says:

What size kamado do you have? If you Google “grill dome table plans”, there are plans on their forum. You can also buy them direct from Grill Dome, or you can check out BBQ Guys, or look around on Craiglist. Good luck!

StokedOnSmoke says:

It’s pretty awesome man. You’ll love it. Since I upgraded mine to the Craycort cast iron grill system, it’s a bit heavy…but it’s still super portable. And yes…def fits nicely in the trunk of a car 🙂 Have fun with it!

StokedOnSmoke says:

Heck yeah man, let me know how ya like it!

StokedOnSmoke says:

Holy crap! I’m gonna have to swing by Target and pick an extra one up if they have em that cheap!

cps archive says:

How’s the jumbo working out? I am thinking it would be nice when I don’t have time to fire my. kamado

Messages from the Master says:

can you cook set on top of the picnic table ?

bearbetsey says:

Anyone interested in a cover for the Jumbo Joe just get the Weber 7450 cover for their other 18.5 grills. I got one today for $6.99 at Home Depot. Went home and measured 9 inches up from the bottom of the cover and hemmed it with good quality duct tape (thank you MacGyver, or you can just cut 9 inches off the bottom. I called Weber, all new products come out in November and they may or may not offer a cover. This fits like a glove and an easy make over.

StokedOnSmoke says:

I’ve had a couple requests for that and hope to do an indirect cook in the near future! Thx for watching and have fun with yours!
