With the thin metal trapdoor as the bottom of the firepot, what is the risk of burn through?

Thanks for the review Max. I have purchased this unit and I have a question. I just cooked a Pork shoulder as per Meatheads recipe and the results were great. The question I have : I noticed that while I had the temp set at 225, the actual temp would vary from a high of 268 to a low of 208 degrees. While I know that with a pellet smoker the temperature will vary as pellets are added by the auger, it seems that a 60 degree variation is high. Is this normal for the Camp Chef or do I have a faulty controller?
